Management Company Controller (52316)

The Management Company Controller is responsible for accounting and financial management of the Management Company and General Partner investment entities.  In this role, superior organization and communication skills are important as the Management Company Controller works across the organization and with the Partners.  A key part of the success for this role is the administration of incentive and investment programs, which involves partnering with the CAO, the Global Tax Director, the General Counsel, and the Global HR Director to ensure the most effective management of these sophisticated programs. The Management Company Controller manages a small team along with hands on responsibilities.

Specific Responsibilities (may include)

  • Responsibilities for financial and contractual information include:
    • Participate in drafting and interpreting governing documents
    • Administer governing documents
    • Make certain that all affiliate financial statements, regulatory reports and other obligations are completed on a timely basis
    • Review and approve periodic reporting to the individual stakeholders as to the performance of the company and their individual accounts
    • Collaborate with the CAO, the General Counsel and the HR Director on various compensation and partnership matters
  • Prepare and manage budgets, projections and cash forecasting to be used in making critical business decisions
  • Oversee accounts payable, payroll and credit
  • Professionally and promptly respond to all inquiries
  • Meet high standards of integrity and confidentiality while working extensively with highly sensitive material
  • Effective management of a small team and their responsibilities
  • Liaise with the Managing Director of Tax to understand the tax impact of financial activity on Partners and employees
  • Research, develop and implement best practices as they relate to company operations
  • Ad hoc projects as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting, business, finance, CPA preferred
  • 5-10 years of professional experience in a related capacity
  • Clear and confident communicator with good presentation skills
  • Self-confident with the credibility and maturity to interact at senior levels
  • Ability to develop good working relationships
  • Budgeting and forecasting experience
  • Ability to drive efficiencies through process changes and technology
  • Financial services background preferred
  • Experience reviewing and managing contracts/documents
  • Related experience in partnership accounting a plus
  • Attention to detail is critical as reporting to management must be accurate, timely and relevant
  • Self-motivated and pro-active with the ability to work independently to tight deadlines and complete tasks while managing multiple priorities
  • Team player and adaptable; willing to perform tasks necessary to achieve common goals
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to coach and motivate a team, and provide effective feedback
  • High proficiency in Excel
