Salo, LLC announces today the appointment of John Wilgers, Certified Public Accountant and Ernst & Young retired partner to the Salo Advisory Board. Wilgers was chosen for his in-depth knowledge of business communities and his ability to lead professional services firms.
“John comes to the board with extensive knowledge in consulting and solutions-based work as well as managing larger organizations,” says John Folkestad, Salo co-founder. “He can help advise us on growth strategy as our company continues to evolve.”
Wilgers began his board assignment in August and will serve for four years.
Wilgers retired in June, 2015, after a 35-year career with Ernst & Young. Most recently, he was the Minneapolis Office Managing Partner, where he led an office of nearly 700 professionals. In this role, he was responsible for executing the firm’s strategy on a local level, working with clients to monitor satisfaction, and helping to develop people. In addition, Wilgers was an assurance partner with over 30 years of experience serving large, complex clients.
Wilgers has significant experience in planning, coordinating and executing global audit engagements as well as coordinating other assurance, advisory, tax and transaction advisory services to clients. His experience includes SEC reporting including filings for initial public offerings, secondary equity offerings and public debt filings, as well as consultations on complex technical accounting matters. John served as coordinating and engagement quality review partner on some of Ernst & Young’s largest clients.
Wilgers is active in the Minneapolis community, serving on the board of directors of Greater Twin Cities United Way and the Minnesota Orchestral Association.
Wilgers and his wife, Trudy, have three children and live in Minnetonka.
