I love the development opportunities and challenges I get to take on, on a regular basis. Leadership makes sure I get what I need to stay engaged and involved. Some of my projects have had an immediate impact and tie directly to our strategic vision—that’s very impressive to me.

What is your role at Salo?
As a Human Resources Associate, I get to onboard our new employees and give new employee orientations. I talk through our mission, vision, and values, and show throughout our conversations how these values come to life. I’ve heard so many people say that the Salo onboarding experience is the most welcoming they’ve had in their entire career, and I take pride in making it that for each individual we employ.
We offer networking happy hours, CTE courses, and educational sessions, plus training throughout the year on things like master classes in MS office, using time efficiently, about consulting itself, such as how to roll on and off a project gracefully.
What lead you to join Salo?
When I walked in for my Salo interview the positive energy hit me like a wave.
No one was down in any way, shape, or form, and it was so different than what I was used to. When I left, I called my family from my car, crying, because I was so excited that opportunity was out there for me. I knew I had to be a part of this.
What’s your favorite part of working at Salo?
It’s a really fun group, very responsible, and involved in relationship building. The relationships we build here not only working ones but also friendships. In my role, I get to contribute to that relationship-building culture by helping the HR team provide as much support as we can for all of our employees. We give employees the tools to help them be successful, have stable employment situations, live their best lives.
Working at Salo has made such a huge impact on my life, not only have I noticed but so has my significant other. I’m more social and reach out to my friends. Spending nine happy hours a day here extended through the rest of my life.
How do you balance working at Salo with your other passions?
Our team is really flexible. If you want to volunteer for an afternoon, you can. Salo reaches out to the community, and also encourages you to reach out individually. I personally partner with the Girl Scouts and I’ve worked on the planning committee for team events like our Linus project community service event. I enjoy giving back, having a sense of higher purpose, and an opportunity to pay it forward. At Salo, you’re 100 percent a human and not just a body in the seat.
