Manager Cost Accounting (52576)
Our client, an International Manufacturing company, is seeking a Senior Cost leader that will evaluate and report inventory valuations and costs of production to support manufacturing and management decision-making processes. This role will also analyze manufacturing costing standards and assess the profitability of production processes in a decentralized manufacturing environment.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities will include:
Support the monthly close process by maintaining the allocation model for the assignment of costs, review posted variances associated with work orders, purchase receipts, cycle counts, and scrapped material. Provide trend and comparison reporting for volume/mix reporting, inventory changes, and cycle count results. Monthly cost-roll for new and/or changed inventory items. Conduct meetings with manufacturing personnel to reconcile and correct work orders.
Ensure accurate database information by providing timely and correct C.O. assessments and review of C.O. form inputs. Periodic review of existing SAP master data fields and make corrections as necessary. Management of new item/SKU set-up process with corporate. The review of transactions, corrections to ERP inconsistencies and other problems enables recommendations for process improvements and the development of cost accounting policies and procedures.
Responsible for setting, maintaining, and the reporting of standard costs for all new and existing purchased and manufactured items.
Annual review of purchased material costs.
Setting work center rates and manufactured item standards based on full absorption methodology.
Assist with the costing development for new products and manufacturing processes
Review and report on inventory levels and help identify obsolete and slow moving inventory
Provide support to plant personnel with developing and overseeing effective cycle count programs
Support the corporate controller and business analysts on special projects and issues as needed
Assist in the annual budget process by developing, evaluating, and maintaining a cost allocation model through gross margin. Apply budgeted allocations as basis for setting up and maintaining the SAP allocation process. Maintain a “kit BOM” structure for forecasting COGS on product systems. Track historical variances for forecasting future budget trends and values. Also assists in budget and revision analysis.
Prepare and analyze inventory and costing reports as required for the quarterly interim and annual audits.
Desired Skills and Experience
- 4-year degree or higher in accounting
- 7 or more years of relevant accounting experience
- Must possess strong analytical and problems solving skills
- Experience with JD Edwards in a full absorption manufacturing environment
- Strong MS Office skills are required
- Willingness to Travel
