How would you describe your role, purpose or the outcomes you drive?
I am energized by connecting people in a way that allows for everyone to achieve positive outcomes. It’s a win-win when consultants are doing the work they love and clients are able to drive valuable work at their organizations.

How has your previous work experience prepared you for your role with Salo?
I have held a variety of HR roles throughout my career and I understand the impact great talent can have on an organization. I also understand the constant priority juggling that HR leaders are dealing with. At Salo, I have the opportunity to help HR leaders knock a few things off of their priority list with top notch talent!

How would your friends describe you?
Supportive, energetic, outgoing and always up for a laugh (even in the hard times)!

I am from the St Louis area but have always been a Cubs fan (I’ve endured much trash talking throughout my life).

Watching infomercials is a guilty pleasure of mine.

When I was a child, I was on The Mickey Mouse Club.

What is your favorite thing about working at Salo?
The values of the organization. Salo is clear on who we are and how we will work. This shows up in our people, our processes, our decision-making and so many other areas. Being surrounded by a supportive environment of people all focused on doing what’s best for our employees, consultants and clients is fantastic!

John Flayter

How would you describe your role, purpose or the outcomes you drive?

Connecting talent with our clients, enabling client success and growing the Salo HR Chicago business.

How has your previous work experience prepared you for your role with Salo?

I have been fortunate to have worked across various industries and HR disciplines both in-house for corporations and as an external consultant. My experiences allow me to listen to our clients and understand their future strategies, their path to succeed and the potential gaps or impediments they may encounter along the way.

How would your friends describe you?

Loyal, genuine, competitive and a friend to everyone. I also service as the golf swing coach to friends and family who need help on the links!

I was a two-sport athlete in college.

I have lived in four U.S. states.

My grandfather’s last name, before changing it, was Hacker (not good for an avid golfer)!

David Telep

How would you describe your role, purpose or the outcomes you drive?
I make connections every day to engage consultants and help our clients solve problems. I build productive and efficient relationships by listening and matching the needs of clients and consultants.

How has your previous work experience prepared you for your role with Salo?
With over 20 years of finance and HR experience, I bring a diverse mindset and multi-faceted approach to relationships. I am a strategic leader and problem solver, who builds business partnerships through trust. By engaging and listening to employees and leaders, I strive to create a solution-oriented culture and work environment where employees connect and thrive and where business results are achieved.

How would your friends describe you?
Through some fun dialogue, I learned that my friends feel I am engaging, caring, optimistic, ethical, driven, personable, loyal, and competitive (in a fun way!). Let’s hope it’s all true…

List three interesting things about you, but only one of them needs to be true.
I am an avid outdoors-man and enjoy canoeing and camping.

I played left field and third base for the St. Paul Saints.

My wife was a college cheerleader.

Robyn Kippley

How would you describe your role, purpose or the outcomes you drive?
My role as a Business Development Director is to help connect clients and our consultants with meaningful work and projects that drive exceptional business outcomes.

How has your previous work experience prepared you for your role with Salo?
I have 10 years of HR experience and I’ve spent the last eight years in medical device marketing where I worked closely with physicians and clinics to find programs that helped patients get to their best treatment faster. My background provides a unique combination of skill sets that fully compliment the incredible work I get to do at Salo.

How would your friends describe you?
I am definitely the one who can’t turn down an invitation to spend time with friends or family. I really enjoy spending time quietly reading at home, but my friends have said I have severe FOMO (fear of missing out) and I don’t disagree!

I had my daughter in the car on the way to the hospital.

I am related to Eileen Davidson (from Days of our Lives and Young and the Restless).

On average, I read 2 books per week and I read 148 books in 2019.

What is your favorite thing about working at Salo?
I really love the collaborative and fun culture at Salo. Everyone is truly here to make a difference but we have an amazing time while we do it.

How would you describe your role, purpose or the outcomes you drive?

I have a really fun job. I get to work with people every day to make connections, find meaningful work for our consultants, and help our clients solve complex business problems.

How has your previous work experience prepared you for your role with Salo?

I have a diverse background, which has contributed to my ability to understand a wide variety of roles, industries, and workplace cultures. I love learning about people, organizations, and teams – their motivators, drivers, and needs – and creatively figuring out how we can partner to achieve success.

How would your friends describe you?

Compassionate, driven, energetic, scrappy, organized, and a problem-solver.

I’m tri-lingual.  I’ve gone skydiving 10 times.  I was an extra in the move “Little Big League”.

Nick Stokes

How would you describe your role, purpose or the outcomes you drive?

I connect people and companies to solve business problems. I help our consultants find meaningful work and carry out their consulting career goals. I partner with our clients to take the stress out of hiring and solve complex business problems. It is my job to connect the dots for our consultants and clients.

How has your previous work experience prepared you for your role with Salo?

I started my career in the staffing industry 10 years ago as recruiter in the engineering space. At the time, I knew nothing about recruiting or engineering for that matter. I was fortunate enough work with a lot of great people who helped stretch me professionally. I have recruited, sold and managed successful staffing business. I am very excited to be learning the HR space.

How do you achieve business outcomes?

Listening and asking questions is the best way to solve business problems. Until you truly understand why or what is creating the business need, you will only temporarily solve the issues.

What impact did your upbringing have on the way you approach your work and life?

As the saying goes, “it takes a village to raise a child.” I grew up in a small town in Southern Minnesota surrounded by amazing family and friends. My parents instilled honesty, integrity and hard work in me at a very young age. The team sports I played growing up taught me how to lead and be a team player.

How would your friends describe you?

Active, fun loving, loyal and genuine. I think I am funny…I am pretty sure my friends think I am too.

In High School, I lettered in Cheerleading. My wife and I met on the 2nd night of college and have a beautiful daughter. I love roller-coasters!

The people and culture make Salo amazing place to work and grow professionally. I am constantly learning.

Nikki Kietzer

How would you describe your role, purpose or the outcomes you drive?

Acting as a brand ambassador and active champion of Salo’s culture and values, I am responsible for hiring talented individuals, creating conditions for employees to be successful with a strong focus on people development and growth in order to drive business results.

How has your previous work experience prepared you for your role with Salo?

I have over 20 years of HR experience as a trusted advisor and business partner. Listening to employees and leaders is key to creating a culture and work environment where employees thrive and business results are achieved.

How do you achieve business outcomes?

It is important to listen and understand objectives, set expectations and hold yourself and others accountable. I find things don’t get done without a plan – so you will find me creating action plans and leveraging key partners and relationships to ensure we get the desired outcome in a timely manner!

What impact did your upbringing have on the way you approach your work and life?

I was taught at a young age to work hard and always give 110% in order to earn the opportunity for the next job (great lesson as a 12 year-old babysitter).  Also, it’s important to be of service to others. People will always remember what you did for them.

How would your friends describe you?

Outgoing, organized, loves to laugh, have fun and sing loudly to the radio (even if it’s the wrong words)!

I have arachnophobia (fear of spiders). I used to be a roadie for the Canadian band Barenaked Ladies, and I firmly believe I could not survive without Diet Coke.

What is your favorite thing about working at Salo?

I love the high energy of our collaborative work environment and how much people care about each other and this business – it’s truly unique!

How would you describe your role, purpose or the outcomes you drive?
My role is listening to people. I help clients and consultants find the solutions that will drive the next step in their career or business and then I connect the two sides to drive the best outcomes for both.

How has your previous work experience prepared you for your role with Salo?
My entire career I have improved business efficiencies by connecting the right people together. I began my career as a recruiter because I love the business of people. I am energized by the process of connecting people to accomplish goals. From my experience at a variety of small to large global organizations, I have learned that it is all about finding what motivates each individual and company.

How do you achieve business outcomes?
By having open conversations with people to find out their true desired outcomes. I focus on how we can achieve their goals and follow through to delivery.

What impact did your upbringing have on the way you approach your work and life?
I was raised by an incredibly supportive and involved family. My parents always focused on independence, responsibility and community involvement. They gave me the support system to be able to take risks and branch into a variety of different activities. As a result, I look at every experience as an opportunity for growth and learning.

How would your friends describe you?
Optimistic, driven, encouraging and the “social planner”

I foster dogs, I have lived on both coasts of the U.S., and I have gone sky diving six times.

What is your favorite thing about working at Salo?
Connecting with amazing people. I have a job that allows me to network and be surrounded by people that have a passion for what they do.

Sue Newton

How would you describe your role, purpose or the outcomes you drive?

Everyday I have the opportunity to help our consultants find challenging and exciting work. It’s unbelievably rewarding to be so closely aligned to extremely talented people and to be a partner in their careers.

How has your previous work experience prepared you for your role with Salo?

As an insurance broker, I developed the ability to uncover new business opportunities as well as build strong relationships. My experience as a collegiate basketball coach prepared me in many different ways to effectively manage consultant and client relationships. As a coach I was constantly motivating, educating, selling thoughts and ideas, bringing in teamwork and collaboration, recruiting as well as performing in the spotlight.

How do you achieve business outcomes?

I’m driven to help clients achieve success with their business initiatives by providing them with talented, experienced and professional consultants.

What impact did your upbringing have on the way you approach your work and life?

I grew up in a small farming community and was a leader in sports and extracurricular activities, so I have always been internally motivated and very competitive. However, my family has always been number one. I think that shapes my approach to work and life – prioritize, do the right thing, work hard, juggle, balance and have a blast in the process.

How would your friends describe you?

Healthy, supportive, caring, a loyal running/yoga buddy, and unless everyone is lying to me I hear that I am really a nice person!

I am one of 7 or 8 people in our office who either have twins or are a twin themselves. I wear high heels just to make everyone feel even shorter. I love Packer fans.

What is your favorite thing about working at Salo?

I’m surrounded by driven, supportive, extremely smart and even funnier colleagues. Seriously, the best!

How would you describe your role, purpose or the outcomes you drive?

I work with clients and consultants to build relationships and solve problems.

How has your previous work experience prepared you for your role with Salo?

I started my career with a large national staffing firm. From there I was part of a marketing and promotions start up organization. I continued to refine my relationship building skills and learned very quickly how to listen and understand what my clients needed.

How do you achieve business outcomes?

I take the time to listen and understand what is going on, even when the “real” issue isn’t obvious.

What impact did your upbringing have on the way you approach your work and life?

I grew up in a small town in South Dakota where personal connections were part of everyday life. My parents both had great careers and I watched them work very hard and they both operated with a high level of integrity.

How would your friends describe you?

Driven, high energy and honest.

I teach group fitness classes. I am married with two children. I travelled the world in college.
